So far The Girl Who Catches Planes is the only rooftop mural in Belgrade. The mural is executed on the roof of the garage in vicinity of Belgrade’s Airport and it is the only artwork that could be seen by the passengers landing or taking off from Belgrade.
Already in 2015 Pijanista started doing his murals on the pillars of the bridges of the rivers that run through Belgrade. And thus he opened the new possibilities for the artistic interventions in the city. Another novelty which he introduced was a rooftop mural in the vicinity of Belgrade’s Airport. This mural depicts the girl that is standing on the ground and is reaching with one hand towards the sky trying to catch a plane. Even though we do not have access to this mural since it is on the private property and it is on the roof of the garage it is still visible from the air. Passengers landing in Belgrade have an opportunity to see this mural and be amused. This is the only mural in Belgrade that is visible from the air.
In graffiti culture’s tradition there are such things as rooftops but they are usually executed in such a way that they are visible from the streets. On the other hand, since the rise of the street art there have been artists that make this kind of murals that are visible only from above.
