In this artwork we can see a very simple fox and a very complex city, contrasting one another in order to produce the biggest amount of viewers interest. Also there is a very puzzling question: does he illustrates the city while illustrating the city.
This large scale piece is of the series in which Rage paints the Fox within the city. We can see very interesting approach where Rage is contrasting his very simple, child like animal with the very elaborate city. So the fox has all of the characteristics of his bests it is presented in profile, it is very simple and has some characteristics of the throw up, brightly colored so that it can attract ones attention. And it is placed withing the city that has almost three dimensional rendering, and its details are very delicately executed. He pays a lot of attention to the windows, doors, roofs and so on, we can almost imagine that some fairy tale creatures live there and go on the streets and lead their lives.
Another one of the questions that surround Rage’s work is: does he illustrates the city while illustrating the city. He paints in the real time and space, therefore he is illustrating on the side of Belgrade’s streets. At the same time he paints the vision of his fairy city within the murals so he is illustrating the city by illustrating the city. For such, mistakenly thought of, simple artworks there are a lot of things they make us thing of and question. Hence they work on many levels, they are simple enough for any viewer and yet if one really looks at them they can be brain twisters and source of immense amusement.
