Bloody Razor Blade

Paste up of a bloody razor blade was appearing mostly in the city center around the year 2007. This is one of the rare examples of the experiments with the street art techniques that Lortek undertook during his long career.

Around this time Lortek was actively doing art in the streets more than a decade and was willing to try out some street art techniques.

Around 2003 he was part of the crew that was comprised of the artists whose former crews disintegrated – JWC (Jedi Wall Crew). Most of the members of JWC were experimenting with the anti-style and were more inclined towards the character design than letters. After this crew fell apart two members, Lortek and Angel, formed another crew MoFoS. Around this time one of their member became TKV the only artist in this crew that was not a graffiti writer but a street artist. And as Lortek was always into experiments and new ideas he started including stencils and paste ups in his own work. Since that time Lortek and TKV had very productive artistic collaboration until 2016.

This particular art piece was part of the very important exhibition that was on in 2007. Exhibition title was Graffiti Vs. Street Art and it was presented in Blok Gallery in New Belgrade. Idea was to contra post examples of these two distinctive art forms and to see how they can influence each other, but also how they differ when it comes to the technique, understanding of the streets and the audience. Lortek was one of the people behind the exhibition’s concept and was one of the selectors of the presented art works.

Graffiti and street art are an unavoidable part of the urban environment. To imagine a city without graffiti would be the same as to imagine a city without cars. Graffiti is everywhere, exposed to views, weather conditions and emotions – and that makes it ephemeral. The goal of this project is to preserve and document Belgrade’s graffiti and street art.
